With summer on its way are you feeling in a rut? Need some help giving your home a fresh new vibe? Here are some helpful tips to get you out of your funk and see your home in a whole new light.
1. You can never have enough pillows
Two pairs of pillows give a simple look. However, multiple pillows with contrasting
colors and patterns make a bold and fun statement!
Furniture that’s too small can make a small room feel smaller. Go Big! In the bedroom a tall bed with a high headboard will make the room feel taller as well.
3. Open the cabinets when the guests come
Keep your armoire open in the living room when your guests come. Let them into your secrets (I guess this depends on what your secrets are). Showcase your collections or china! They make for great conversations.
Painting a room a dark color does the opposite of what you think. It actually makes the room feel larger and creates an illusion of no corners. Therefore, the room feels endless!
Adding some pattern can completely change the feel of a space. Whether it’s a small corner or an entire room, wallpaper has made a big comeback and is a surefire way to give your room a fresh look.
6. Use an Area Rug in the Bathroom
Instead of a bath mat, be different and use an area rug. It will make the space more interesting.
7. White will work
When in doubt paint your walls white. Use dome white furnishings and accents. There is nothing more fresh than an all white space (I know we just told you to go dark… So depending on your space and style, you can choose the best option for you).
Mix matching styles such as Modern with Antique is a great way to wow your guests! For example; using a four poster bed in a modern room, perfection.
The more light sources the better! At least two for ambient light and two for direct task light. This allows you to create different moods in your space.
10. Kick the traditional coffee table to the curb
The most versatile coffee table you will ever own is an ottoman with a tray on it.
Happy almost summer everyone! What are some of your favorite ways to give your space a makeover?
