We believe that the entrance into the home is one of the most important spaces as it sets the tone for the rest of the house and determines how well energy will flow in and through the home. We’ve chosen some of our favorite inspiration photos that capture the various elements discussed so you can start to envision your own entry. The most important thing is to have fun!
1. The entry is a spot to make a statement. Depending on the size of your home and whether you have a proper foyer or just a hallway leading straight into the home you can have fun with this space. It’s a great spot to throw color on the wall or use a fun wallpaper. Whatever your style is, the entry is where you want to introduce it. Perhaps it’s art work, a sculpture or a collage of family photos on the wall. Whatever it may be remember it sets the tone for the rest of the home.
2. It’s important to consider how energy flows in and through the home. The entry is a way to protect the rest of the house. Depending on the configuration of your house it’s nice to have an entrance table to help ground the space. We love using round pedestal tables situated right in the middle of the space so that energy can flow in and around without getting swept through too fast. If you don’t have space for this then place a table against the wall as you walk in. We love dressing the entry table with statement accessories, art and photos. You can compliment the table with a nice rug or runner that helps tie everything together and creates a warm vibe. Plants are also a great accessory for an entry in helping to ground the energy or chi flowing into the home. We’re big believers in inviting chi into the home, helping to ground it so it can flow and cultivate and in doing so create a home with a warm and inviting vibe.
3. It’s important to factor in functionality when styling your entrance. It makes sense that you need a spot to throw your keys, hang your purse, take off your shoes, etc. In considering all of this please note that you do not need to sacrifice style for function. It’s very simple to achieve both. Organization is key here. Our motto while organizing is “everything has a home”. Find yourself a cute, stylish bowl or box that is designated for keys. Perhaps place a bench along the wall with a coat/purse hanger above so you have a spot to hang your things and a spot to take off your shoes. A nice basket under the bench can serve as good shoe storage. A standing pot next to a bench or table is a great spot to store umbrellas.
The entrance is the introduction into your home so take time to think about how you wish to introduce your home and your life.
