Design 101 : Plants in the Bathroom

July 7, 2016

PLANTSDid you know that plants have proven to decrease stress levels, anxiety, depression and lower blood pressure?  Why wouldn’t you want them around?  We’ve always been huge fans of incorporating plants into your home.  We’re going to offer some ideas for tying them into your bathroom design.  The bathroom is a great spot to add some greenery.

We’ve picked some of our favorite looks.  Depending on your style you can keep it as simple as fresh cut flowers or a small potted plant or you can create a vibe that makes you feel like you have an outdoor bathroom.  Whatever you decide it’s tough to get it wrong because plants are such a positive addition and compliment any space.  Here are a few things to consider:

1. It’s important to consider what type of plant you can use in your space depending on how much natural light the room gets.  The easiest thing to do is consult with the folks down at your local nursery.

2. You want to consider size, fullness and height.  Read your space and decide what it needs. Perhaps a corner needs some life or the vanity needs something special or a splash of color. Maybe you need some height next to your bathtub to add more dimension.  From here you can then select the best plant.

3. You want to make sure and select a container for the plants or flowers that suits the overall look and feel of your space.  We normally like to keep it simple but at times it can be fun to mix in some patterns.

We hope this inspires you to add some life to the often used bathrooms of your home.
