Susanna Samaniego, Interior Architect & Design Specialist, has spent years in both the residential and commercial design worlds, collaborating with top designers from Los Angeles and well-known architects in San Diego. Prior to founding 4 Corners, she worked on a project to project basis out of a desire to meet client needs on a personal, one-to-one level. She brings that same personal touch to her own company. Susanna designs with intuition and imagination. She is attune to nuances of color and layers of surface texture. She loves her work and inspires design excitement in everyone she works with.

I am inspired by so many things; a drive in my car and I look out the window and I see the shapes of the clouds, or the color of the sky when it meets the ocean. I try to always be thankful for these moments. I always think to myslef, I wish I could bottle this image or that color up. I am also inspired by fashion. I will see combinations of clothing and it makes my mind turn. Simple things, like my long term boyfriend Tyler. His patience is inspiring. My two nephews. Their spirits inspire me. The two most important women in my life, my mother and my sister. Two women I have looked up to since birth. Certain shapes will inspire as well as certain colors. The life I lead is pretty inspiring.

My favorite things: Tyler my boyfriend, my dog Luna (obsessed), trips to N.Y., a fabulous MAC lip color, a good hair day, a pair of sexy heels and a fabulous client with great taste!
What do you like best about living in San Diego? The laid back vibe that Southern California provides, I love that I am a few blocks from the ocean, I love that I am a fifteen minute drive from my ma and pa, but most importantly that my roots are here. There is nothing more special than coming home after a long trip to Bali or anywhere for that matter and knowing that not only your family and lifelong friends are there, but my roots from childhood. I belong in San Diego.

I am inspired by travel; moving around, meeting new people and seeing new places, seeing what other countries do with color, pattern, architecture and design. I am always inspired by nature; a walk on the beach or a hike through the forest is always enough to fill me up with creative energy. My children inspire me, they are my greatest teachers, they’re teaching me how to be present and how to love so freely you can make anything happen. My husband inspires me, I’ve never met anyone so intelligent and creative as he, he grounds me and keeps me sane. At this rate I’d have to say my whole family inspires me! The love we have for each other carries us through all the hard times and makes the good times so so good. My friends inspire me. Strong, confident, beautiful women. I love surrounding myself with great women, we have so much to teach each other. And of course my beautiful sister inspires me all the time, her joyful energy is so contagious and lights up the room, her humor keeps it all light and her incredible generosity, I admire. She is my partner, my friend and my sister. I’m so blessed.

My favorite things: Always family time, my kid’s laughter, my new Pike backpack from Cleobella, my iPad, indigo everything, stripes, textiles, my LuLu Lemon pants, my Bose headphones, my husband’s playlists, dinner parties, good red wine, dark chocolate, my workout classes every morning, my morning meditation, sunsets, and date nights.

What do you like best about living in Bali? I love the freedom I have found in Bali. The freedom for my children to be children and to be so cherished by the locals. The freedom to make anything happen. The freedom to have time for yourself. Aside from my children Bali is my biggest teacher. The Balinese people are some of the loveliest people I have ever met, they live with an open heart and this I love the most. I see Bali as a small version of the world, it is so diverse here with not just local Indonesians from all the different islands but also a huge amount of expats from all over the world. There are no degrees of separation here so you truly never know who you may run into or who you might meet. I feel like I’m part of a really special community here in Bali. And the beauty…
